The mission was supposed to be simple. Infiltrate an enemy’s stronghold outside Rome and eliminate its leader. For a Breed warrior as lethal as Ettore Selvaggio, AKA “Savage”, stealth assassinations are only one of his many cold-hearted specialties. But the last thing Savage expects to find behind enemy lines—in his target’s bed—is a woman he once adored.
It’s been years since Savage last saw beautiful Arabella Genova. Years he’s strived to banish to his past, along with the fierce desire he once felt toward Bella . . . and the irresistible calling of her blood that stirs in him even now, despite the fact that she belongs to another male.
But when fate throws Savage and Bella together again in a race for their lives, will his long-lost love prove to be the one woman he can’t live without, or the perfect weapon to destroy him?
I am a huge fan of the Midnight Breed, so Savage's story was a bonus for me as a reader. The males in this series are all very loyal, powerful, and alpha. When they see something or someone they want, they are all in.
Savage almost lost his chance at having his Breed Mate due to being stubborn and listening to the wrong people. He'd been told he wasn't good enough for such a long time, that he chose to walk away from the woman he knew was his one and only love so she could have a better shot at a life with a male who was better for her. He'd lived a long time fighting for their kind and trying to keep the rogues at bay, but with their increasing number and the person responsible for the increase close enough to destroy, he's tasting victory. Little did he know his plans would be derailed by a woman from his past. She'd always been on his mind, but he'd long since let her go. Finding her now, in the home of the enemy is a huge blow, but will he risk everything to speak to her again? And what risks will she be taking if she succumbs to her instincts and flees with him? Will he give her a choice?
Those questions ran through my mind as I read and I couldn't get through fast enough...and at the same time, it went too fast. I wanted more of the Breeds, as I always do. I love Savage and his stubborn streak, but I wanted more breed males involved in the story. It was all about Savage and very little about the other males initially, though we are introduced to a new Breed Male who has suffered tremendously. His story will be heart breaking, no doubt, but we are left with a tease about his future.
As always, well written and exciting!
