Liv never expected to rekindle her romance with her college boyfriend, who's now a hard-bodied, tattooed biker. And she never imagined sharing herself with his entire gang.
Shock can feel Liv pulling away from him, just like she did all those years ago. Her lies are a painful reminder that she's not ready for anything more than a good time in bed, but he's not willing to let her go. He lost her once, and it's never happening again. Faced with losing the one thing he's always wanted, he must prove to Liv that what they have is more than physical and that his heart is in her hands. But is she ready to give him hers?
This is part three of HARD RIDE, a three part novel.
***I received the ARC of Hard to Ride Part 3, by Opal Carew through NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an honest review***
Hard Ride 3 is the culmination of the love story between Liv and Shock.
As expected, this installment burns up the pages with hot sex and even hotter men. To be totally honest, though I have given four stars to this book, I was a little disappointed on a personal level. The writing is clear, concise and though slightly repetitive, what you expect from Opal Carew.
In Part 1. Liv has a traumatic experience as a college student, date-raped to the point where she has pulled away from, not only the man she cared about, but all intimate relationships. That being said, throughout Parts 1 - 3, she works through her fears with Derek, aka Shock. Not only is she now having hot, spontaneous sex with Shock, but she goes from having no sex to having sex with the entire motorcycle club. Okay, cool, it may happen, but in my mind, not without self doubt, concerns and worry. To me, this particular scene just put me off. I did not see Liv participating in group sex at this point whether she felt that this was her only time to live out her fantasies or not.
Overall, I loved Liv and Shock. Both characters had to work through insecurities, failures to become who they were by the end of the book. The secondary characters throughout the entire trilogy were just as compelling as Liv and Shock and definitely worth reading the Ready To Ride series of books.
Hi. I’m Opal Carew and I write erotic romance for St. Martin’s Press.
I’ve been writing since 1993, though originally I wrote futuristic, urban fantasy, science fiction, paranormal and contemporary romance. These stories are set in the present, future, or alternate realities and most of my stories are steamy. I am now republishing these under the name Amber Carew.
As Opal Carew, I write erotic romances which always have a romance and a happy ending.
So why do I like writing erotic romance? I like being able to push beyond traditional boundaries. I like dealing with a woman who is growing and evolving – questioning her sexual boundaries and pushing past them. I have been writing stories that involve multiple characters and it’s fascinating to work with the interactions between them. What fun to write a heroine choosing between two equally appealing heroes? My current project involves a group of several people who interact sexually and I find the scenario an enjoyable challenge.
I try to keep my characters real. I like to have a heroine with whom the reader can empathize. These aren’t women who just jump into bed with anyone. They find themselves in an unusual situation – something exciting and erotic – but a situation where they have to push themselves beyond their comfort level. As a result, they grow as a person. So often fear holds us back – of what others will think of us, of what we will think about ourselves – and we don’t follow our hearts. These women push past that fear.
