Once you slap the hell out of the light heavyweight champion of the world on the night of his first loss, how do you convince him to give you an interview? That’s the dilemma Samantha Wellington finds herself in after turning down the most desirable yet foul-mouthed athlete she’s come across. Unfortunately for her, her job depends on getting his interview and this boxer’s not talking.
When Trent “The Punisher” Page is humiliated by the spunky reporter, then cornered for an interview, he does what he does best: he plays dirty. He didn’t earn his nickname for being nice, after all. If the little minx wants to know more about him, she’ll have to pay with the one thing she’s not willing to give - herself.
Her elements of surprise meet their match in his determination to succeed. With vastly different motivations, can they break down the enemy without jeopardizing themselves?
DISCLAIMER: Due to Trent's foul mouth and sexual situations, this book is intended for mature readers.
The witty banter back and forth between the two main characters makes the book. From the very beginning, Samantha is clear she isn't impressed by the massive man who thinks he can have any woman in the Vegas club and tells her so while trying to manhandle her. He is full of himself and comes off as a shallow, foul-mouthed muscle head. She embarrassed him in front of his buddies, took off and thought she'd never see him again. (Made me laugh- well described and skillfully written.)
The joke's on her. If she wants to keep her job, and she does want to keep her job, she has to interview the champ. Turns out, the champ is the very guy she'd made such a great impression on at the club and the chances of getting him to talk to her are slim to none. He's never given an interview to anyone previously and he isn't going to start now. In fact, if she wants an interview, she's going to have to play by his rules. He seemed to take great delight in luring Samantha in as he controlled the situation.
But who is really in control of this little game of cat and mouse? And who's going to win? Lots of fun getting to the end game! Quick, interesting, fast paced read.
