He was supposed to be the rebound…
After a pathetic reenactment of The Runaway Bride, the last thing Nelena Price needed was a man to swoop in and steal her heart. Good liquor, laughter, and great no-strings sex were the only options she wanted on her menu.
Kade Wright had every intention of savoring Nelena, never anticipating he would fall addicted to her taste.
But can the events of fourteen days in Vegas really be left in Vegas?
***This book is intended for audiences 18 years of age or older due to strong sexual content and language***
Warning: This book ends in a cliffhanger.
I loved the way this book hooked me and pulled me in immediately. The bride, Nelena, has butterflies before walking down the aisle and can't put her finger on what they really mean. One look at her husband-to-be at the end of the aisle and she knows immediately what they mean. She can't marry him. He's looking everywhere but at her. Her groom is all about image and what he can do to move up the ladder. Realizing she is just a wrung on the way up makes her decision to walk away easier than she believed possible. The groom seals the deal when he believes it is because of an indiscretion with Nel's sister a week prior to the wedding. My favorite part of this book was the beginning- for once, the woman does not just get married because she feels like she has to. She takes care of herself and in a big way.
After wallowing for two weeks, her best friend and roommate, Kali, pushes her out of bed, into the shower and onto a plane for a trip to Vegas for 14 days. Her argument is that Nel needs to stop doing everything right all the time and let loose. She needs to find "Mr. Right Now" to occupy her mind and time while they are there. She should give up her hold on her virginity and show the world, and her ex, that she is a force to be reckoned with. Nel balks at first, but when she makes up her mind to give this a shot, she goes all in.
Enter, Mr. Kade Wright, a Vegas dancer and incredibly sexy, confident man who takes one look at Nel and wants to have her. He's got his own closet of past relationships and hurts, but if he ignores his past, it won't intrude on the present, right? His best friend and roommate, Allie, who is also his wingman and dance partner, is at his side when he spots Nel. She is surprised by his choice who seems plain and less sophisticated than he usually goes after, but steps back and goes to look for a conquest of her own. Allie and Kali, eventually meet and discover they share an attraction for each other, and though a great addition to the storyline, it is not the focus of the book. Instead, Nel and Kade grab your attention and hold it throughout.
He romances her and shows her how a woman should be treated by a man. One interlude in particular will have you flying right along with Nel. I will never look at a Vegas show the same way again. Hot! Nel fights it, saying he is just "Mr. Wright Now" and nothing more, but Kali sees her falling hard. So hard that when they hit a bump in the road and their 14 days are over, Nel leaves Vegas and Kade behind. Both Nel and Kade have some unresolved issues from past relationships that have thrown up huge obstacles. Are they too much to get over, or will they both learn from those past mistakes and move forward?
If you are not a fan of cliffhanger books, be forewarned. You are left with a heart wrenching cliffhanger and I admit to yelling at my iPad. I can't wait for book 2! Well written, great characters and cool twists kept me reading. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
