"We met in a nightmare. The in-between world where time had no power over reason. We fell in love. We fell hard. But then we woke up. And it was over . . ."
RUIN & RULE
She is a woman divided. Her past, present, and future are as twisted as the lies she's lived for the past eight years. Desperate to get the truth, she must turn to the one man who may also be her greatest enemy . . .
He is the president of Pure Corruption MC. A heartless biker and retribution-deliverer. He accepts no rules, obeys no one, and lives only to reap revenge on those who wronged him. And now he has stolen her, body and soul.
Can a woman plagued by mystery fall in love with the man who refuses to face the truth? And can a man drenched in darkness forgo his quest for vengeance-and finally find redemption?
Having never read anything by Pepper Winters before, I didn’t know what I’d be getting myself into, but the blurb intrigued me and the cover is HOT! So I decided to give it a go and HOLY FUCK! Talk about falling down the proverbial rabbit hole. I got sucked into the vortex of this story and could put it down (YAY for phone apps!) I kept turning the page because I NEEDED to know what the hell was going on.
Her, the mystery woman (sorry. no spoilers), was the definition of determined. Even when faced with a super pissed off male bearing down on her, she always found a way to stand her ground and fight for herself and need to regain her memories. Did I have my doubts about her? Hell Yeah! I mean amnesia is one of those grey area issues and not all believe it’s a true ‘thing’. Kill, big, bad scary and broken motherfucker. Even though he was a bastard. Even though he was doing things that were sketchy, I just really liked him. There was just something about him that despite it all, I was drawn to him. And their relationship? It’s definitely not pretty. It’s dark, sometimes brutal, and had me wondering at times if she really should be fighting so hard and yet, it works.
There is A LOT going on this story. The girl with amnesia. The MC Prez who can’t stay away from her though he doesn’t trust her. And vengeance. Lots of it. Then there are the players in the story and though there are some that I liked, that I really want to like, but I’m also not so sure who’s side they are really on. With so much going on, one would think that it would be too much, and at times it was, but the author was able to tie the mass majority of it together and when she did there was a lot of WTF!?!? coming out of me, well mostly in my head since I read the majority at work, but it only made me want to get to the bottom of all that was going on. Though there were a few parts that dragged a little, mostly because the majority of the story is told in first person POV from Her side of the coin, but then it would pick up and all would be right (somewhat) in the world. This book falls under the Dark and MC sub genre’s and while the elements are there it’s not as extreme as some that I’ve read. Also, for those that like a heads up before starting a book, this does have cliffhanger ending but it didn’t leave me pissed off that there was one. Yes, I went through another round of WTF’s?!?! when it ended, but it works.
The Bottom Line: I want, or need really, to fall back down rabbit hole and find out what the hell is going on, so bring on Sin & Suffer!
