I’m still new to world of Sawyer Bennett, this is the fourth book of her’s that I have found myself getting lost in, and she has yet to disappoint. Shaken, Not Stirred, which is a perfect title for this book, is filled with lots of heart, humor and sexy moments (Tenn and Casey are smoking hot together) and just a fun filled read.
Tenn is now on my list of perfect book boyfriend Alphas. He’s got that whole inked up bad boy vibe going on, rides a Harley, and is that perfect mix of sexy and confident without having to try. He is, as most alpha males go, stubborn, dominant and tenacious, but knows when to keep pushing and when to ease up. And he loves his daughter and isn’t afraid to let everyone know it (This gets huge props in my book).
Casey. I’ll be honest. It took me awhile to really warm up to her. I haven’t read the other books in the series, so I have no clue as to how she shown to be in them, but while I admired her confidence and that she was owning her sexuality, it just felt fake and off, but as the story progressed my feelings towards her changed, and it happened before finding out what the catalyst for she dealt with the male species in the way she did. So when that revelation finally came to light I honestly couldn’t fault her. Given all that was going on, she took the only path she felt she could and did a damn good job at it, but I am definitely happy that she finally got past it all and saw what she could have, and should have had all along.
As a couple they fit. While they clicked instantly physically and sexually, I liked how their relationship outside of having sex progressed. While there was Insta Lust and a smattering of Insta Love, even if neither recognized it, their actual relationship took time to grow. Much of it had to do with Casey’s commitment phobia, but it worked for me because there wasn’t too much of the whole ‘one step forward, two steps back’ thing going on so while Tenn was doing what he could to breakdown Casey’s walls without breaking her, because he really did like her, she was working through her own issues and they were getting to know each other.
Now, I’m a huge fan of well rounded/written secondary characters. They are really what help me understand the H/h outside of what they themselves show us and in this book Zoey, Tenn’s daughter is a winner. I loved that she wasn’t portrayed as the sullen, emo teenager. She was vibrant, observant and had more energy than one could think possible. She knew what was going on with her parents and while the bratty did come out a little, she was just a great kid. And the way Tenn loved her was just awesome.
As I’ve stated, I haven’t read the series, but at no time did I feel lost or that I was missing out on anything. Sawyer Bennett did a great job at weaving the most important details of the previous books into this one and using them to help me understand more about Casey and her life and making sure that I will go and read the series in full.
