**4 ‘I adore you the way you are, crazy or not’ Stars**
This series makes my head spin, but in the best of ways.
So, where are we in the beginning of the book
The world has gone to hell in a handbasket, and that’s a major understatement
The President is a sociopathic narcissistic Ripper bastard.
Vitamin B is necessary.
Everyone is gunning for Lynne and Vivienne because of the knowledge they believe they have.
The Vanguard crew appears to the be the most sane community at the moment, and that’s saying a lot at the moment.
Lynne aka Blue and Jax are a couple and she’s working her ass off to see if the human body can produce Vitamin B on it’s own while Jax keeps the peace in the compound.
Everyone is keeping an eye on Tace to see which way he will swing after contracting Scorpius.
Sami is still being secretive
Vivienne aka Vinnie has been at Vanguard for about a week and Raze can’t stay away even though he knows he should considering the deal he has going with the Mercenaries.
Okay now with that out of the way on to Vinnie and Raze.
I loved Vinnie. Between Scorpius and the drugs the President pumped into her, she came out with some interesting side effects. She is hallucinating and is now more prone to unfiltered babbling of her thoughts. Both are distressing, but instead of hiding she just rolls with it. She’s sassy, determined and extremely intelligent. She wants to be a productive member of the community and help find a way to keep the human race from going extinct.
I’m all about the tall, dark, sexy, silent and just a little scary type of alpha male and Raze definitely fits the bill. He’s been through hell while in the military and with the spread of Scorpius is still living in it daily. His big secret keeps him from getting close to the others in Vanguard, and trust hasn’t been fully given on either side, but he still does all he can to protect those behind it’s walls without question. I was on the fence about Raze, but finding out why he had to kidnap Vinnie pushed me into the #TeamRaze realm. Beneath the kevlar exterior he is loyal, compassionate and sweet in his own gruff way.
Vinnie and Raze together were fun. Despite what Raze was supposed to do, he couldn’t help but be drawn to her. At first it was to keep an eye on her, but it soon turned into him going all protective alpha male on her and finding that he really liked being around her. Vinnie should have probably done all she could to stay away from Raze, at least according to Lucinda, but she kept being drawn to him like a moth to a flame and she simply went with her gut. I loved how gruff yet gentle Raze was with Vinnie and how Vinnie stood her ground against his dominant alpha tendencies. Though their relationship started as attraction based on being in close quarters it grew into a relationship based on mutual admiration genuine affection with a good dose of smexy sparks tossed into the mix.
I liked that we finally got a look into the Mercenaries and can already guess at who a future couple will be. Those there are times when things do go over my head a bit, I like where the series story arc is going and how all the various groups are intersecting, though I’m hoping that we find out what the hell is going on with the Brigade sooner rather than later. And after reading the synopsis for the next book in the series, it looks like we’re in for a hell of a ride and can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Before the Scorpius Syndrome tore through North America and nearly wiped out the population, Vivienne Kennedy was the FBI’s best profiler. The bacteria got her anyway. But she survived. She recovered. And when she woke up from a drug-nightmare of captivity, her skills as a hunter of men had gone from merely brilliant to full-on uncanny. Her mysterious rescuer wants her to put them to the test. But no matter how tempting he is, with his angel’s eyes and devil’s tongue, Vinnie knows she shouldn’t trust him.
If the FBI were still around they would rate Raze Shadow as one of the bad guys. His military training can’t wipe out his association with the Mercenaries, the most feared gang in a thousand miles. His loyalties are compromised. He won’t even tell Vinnie his real name. But there’s no FBI in the new America of fear and firepower, only instinct and risk.
And the way his arms wrap around Vinnie tells its own story. Whatever else Raze is concealing, he can’t hide his desire . . .
