One of the main characters, Zach almost seemed a little too timid for me. I am all about strong characters, and though I do like the underdog once in awhile and a tortured soul, something was bothering me a bit about his shyness and lack of self confidence. Then... as the book continued on and it was explained why he was the way he was, I found myself understanding him a little more and the feeling of accepting the book’s story just came naturally. So, thank you, Felice for a better look into Zach’s hangups and personality. (I won’t tell what they are, because that would be a spoiler and I am not into that.)
The story and relationship of Zach and Sam was great and engaged me enough to wonder if either man had hit his head as a small child because they both acted like idiots for a bit. I mean, if they were to stop jumping to conclusions, they might actually see the big picture.... oh, wait... that was almost a spoiler. Okay... next.
Let me just get to the part of the book that really got me! That would be the interaction between Zach and Sam and their mothers. I know you are thinking.. “wait, what?” Nope, not kidding. There is something to the fact that someone can be close to a parent and someone can be distanced from a parent and more times than often it is from lack of communication. That is true even in the fictional world and it certainly is in this book.
So, if you are looking for a great read that just might surprise you as well, I suggest you give “Betting on Forever” a try. I am just betting... that you will like it!
