I was raised on the streets, so I know things are rarely as simple as they appear—especially this rich girl showing up at my pawnshop demanding a job.
She’s the most tempting thing I’ve ever seen, and I’ll be damned if I can make her leave.
Shit just got complicated … but when it comes to her, I want complicated.
We’re both fighting our own demons, and our only chance at a future is to let go of the past.
But will we be strong enough to break free from beneath these chains?
Lord, oh, Lord!
Yeah, I went there.
I loved Beneath this Mask and enjoyed Beneath this Ink, but I absolutely LOVED Beneath these Chains! This book had it all for me. Sweet, funny and smoking hot moments. Main characters that I adored from the start, yes I adored both characters not just one, and loved how their story played out. Oh. And there was a nice little mystery/suspense storyline thrown in there that was interesting as well.
Okay, let me say it again: I ADORE Lord and Elle. Lord is my kind of alpha male, and my new book boyfriend. He’s sexy, strong, insightful, has a dominant personality both in bed and out, but isn’t an asshat ~ at least not just to be one ~ and loves and respects strong women. Elle has a lot of moxie. A lot. I think that if you look up the definition of the word you could probably find a picture of her under it as an example. She just had that thing about her that just draws you in. She’s a great combination of sassy, sexy and heart. Separately, these two are awesome but together they are explosive. From the first time they collide you can feel the chemistry between them and it only grew hotter as they navigated their way through all the various twists, turns and bumps in the road because the more we got to know them, and they got to know each other it showed just how much they belonged together. But what I loved most was that while they were working through their issues, and there were a few, they never did anything to intentionally sabotage their relationship and when issues did pop up they actually communicated and acted like adults.
Then there is the little mystery/suspense plot line. I won’t say that I totally figured it out, because I didn’t. I kinda guessed at the outcome, but I didn’t see the big picture until it was revealed ~ so bravo to the author for keeping me guessing! But as with the first two books in the series, I found the writing to be engaging and liked the flow of it and really do enjoy the dual 1st person POV’s. In this one get to catch up with Con and Van, Hennessy and meet a new character by the name of Rix and all I can say is that I hope both Hennessy and Rix get their own books one day.
The Bottom Line: LOVED Lord and Elle and can’t wait for Lucas Titan’s book!
Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She’s also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she’s ever had. She loves hearing from her readers at firstname.lastname@example.org.
