Copywriter by day, nerd by night, Hailey Holloway is living the post college dream. Her life may not be flashy and exciting but it’s enough for her. After a late night at work, Hailey stumbles upon two dragons brawling in the middle of Philadelphia. In an act of kindness and lapse of sanity, she comforts the dragon who was left behind to die. In doing so she inadvertently invited the soul of Dacea into herself for safe keeping. Hailey just wants to live her life as simply and quietly as possible but with the voice of a disembodied dragon in her head, she has little hope of achieving her goal.
Dacea will do anything to be free of Hailey, a human who is moments from checking herself into a psychiatric ward. He is grateful to be alive, but at what cost to his sanity? The dragon world is in upheaval. Green is at war with Red, and he is of no use to anyone while stuck with Hailey.
The solution to their problem is not without its risks. But just how far will Hailey go to be free of the dragon?
Hailey has been taken.
She was alive and had a dragon boyfriend with a shiny new body. Life was fantastic. Or it was until she was drugged and pulled right off the street. Hailey finds herself no match for the supernatural world. Will Dak come after her or did their latest battle of arrogance verses stubbornness ruin her chances of rescue?
Dacea has two Mates.
Word of his return was making its way through the dragon world and all the way to his runaway Mate. After hundreds of years of searching and wondering, Katherine was back and making herself at home. Dacea is stretched thin as he looks for Hailey and attempts to keep Katherine from moving in.
Silas has a secret.
His mind is set and he’ll tear through whatever gets in his way. With a little more research he hopes to have his suspicions confirmed. And when they are, his discovery will change everything.
Hailey Holloway has a serious knack with running from her problems. At the first sign of trouble she can be found lacing up her Nikes and hitting the road. Dacea has been patient with her, but a man can only handle so much. He told her before that he would not chase after her again and is he nothing, if not a man of his word. Katherine is more than happy to pick at the wound that festers between them. If she picks enough, she just might make one or both of them bleed.
War is on the horizon. Together, they need to convince the leaders of Blue and Silver to join their crusade against the Council, but can they put their differences aside and stop fighting long enough to help those in the line of fire?
I started Book 1 and settled in expecting a typical book about dragons and the females they desire. I was pleasantly surprised to find this series has a very different twist. Hailey has dragon in her life, but he is trapped inside HER body because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This dragon though, is a voice in her head and they have the most entertaining conversations. Some are just pure frustration for Dacea, and others he finds highly humorous. For Hailey's part, she is sure she has lost her mind, but grows comfortable with him there.
In fact, they both find something intriguing each other and their connection becomes a source of comfort for Hailey. She is soon being pursued by another dragon though and Silas is persistent. As she begins to rely on Dacea and his abilities, she meets an old friend of his named Darby and a goddess named Lia. Both women have a vendetta against Silas and are more than happy to help Dacea and Hailey. Both women are also very aware of the relationship growing between the dragon and his unlikely host.
Through their journey to break their bond and find Dacea another body to inhabit, they struggle to survive. Hailey is in danger more times than I could count and once into Book 2, the danger increases. I don't want to give anything away, but I throughly enjoyed the game of cat and mouse that went on in this book. Silas reveals some secrets and Hailey learns more about her family, while Dacea struggles to understand why Hailey won't just do as he tells her. She is as stubborn as he is. Meanwhile, Lia and Darby have their own issues to deal with throughout Book 2.
My only issue with the books was the typos/errors throughout the book. I think it is because I have the perpetual red pen in my hand and am very aware of the mistakes. They don't ruin the book or distract from the story- just a nuisance. I have not started Book 3 yet, but will shortly. It has recently been released and I'm looking forward to the story as it moves from a battle between Silas and Dacea, to a battle with the Council and the other groups of Dragons. Will Silas and Dacea be able to bury the hatchet and work together? Can't wait to find out!
