My friends say Hunter's dangerous.
They say he's a threat to everyone in town.
I'm not so sure.
As he stands before me in this crowded club with the lights shining around us, I catch something good under Hunter's dark facade. Something decent and profound.
I don't know who or what to believe.
But I will find out the truth.
Aeris Thorne is expecting a restful vacation in the remote town of Deep Cove. But on a stormy night she meets the alluring and mysterious Hunter Cayman and her life takes an exhilarating turn. Aeris is both drawn to him and determined to find out what he's hiding. It's clear Hunter has found success with his mega-secure lab on the vast estate. But what Aeris doesn't know is that he's tormented by a secret: the truth behind his research. As he and Aeris are drawn together, the walls he's built to protect himself threaten to crumble. At the same time, she begins to wonder if she's found the key to unraveling her own tragic past. When Aeris's life is threatened, Hunter is forced to make an impossible decision about her future━one that could change everything.
Romantic and full of heart-racing twists and turns, The Butterfly Code will make you feel love's connections in a startling new way.
After starting out a little slow, the book began to take me on a page turning adventure that left me unable to put the book down. The main character, Aeris, is a curious, determined, talented violinist, and graduate of Juliard. She is vacationing and taking time to get some work done for school while she visits her father in a small coastal town. Reluctantly, she heads out with her friends for a night on the town, and finds herself drawn to a guy everyone says is trouble. Hunter, the guy in question, is mysterious, and Aeris feels an unexplainable pull to him. Her friends tell her to stay away from him because he is trouble, but her curiosity gets the best of her.
She devises a way to meet him and see what is behind the gates of the the mysterious research facility where Hunter lives. Once inside the gates, she gets more than she bargained for with Hunter. While there, she is determined to figure out the connection between her father and Hunter because there is something there, she is sure. In fact, all signs are pointing to her deceased mother having been involved with the research center, which makes her even more curious. Hunter is as perplexed as she is by the connection they feel, but he is determined to ignore it.
The suspense only amps up as she heads home to find her father's house being staked out by a strange man with lots of weapons and enough bad guys inside the house to keep her in hiding. Hunter is her only hope and she knows it, but getting back to him will be an adventure in and of itself; and then what? Who is going to answer her questions and give her straight answers~ Her father? Hunter? Her friends? All of them are hiding something and she doesn't know who to trust.
Great premise, strong characters, beautiful setting, and beautifully written. Can't wait for Part II. Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Oh! And I LOVE THE COVER ART!
