He was supposed to be the man I loved – forever.
He shot that fantasy to Hell. He broke my heart and shattered my soul.
I was moving on – or it looked that way to those on the outside looking in. I’d moved to Chicago and landed myself a killer job. I was making friends and then out of the blue he was there – and all over again I felt myself falling. This time, it wasn’t an easy fall. I fought it hard.
But one night with Kade Wright can never be one simple night. I should have known. I’ve been here before.
From the very beginning, Mr. Wright Now was always Mr. Wright Forever.
***This book will end in a Happily Ever After with NO cliffhanger. It is the final book in the Wild Card Series concluding Nelena's and Kade's journey.***
The first book, Mr. Wright Now, ended with a cliffhanger. Kade left Nelena after a wild fourteen days in Vegas during which he stole her heart. She thought she had his, but never heard from him again. He never told her why he left and that was the biggest mistake of his life. Unbeknownst to either of them, their friends and family will conspire behind their backs to force them to accept the inevitable.
Nelena is handed her dream job- to become the interior decorator for expensive high rises in Chicago. She is not sure why the owner of the towers is willing to give her a shot at such a huge account since she is new to the interior decorating scene, but passing it up would be a mistake and she knows it. Taking a risk and hoping to get her mind off of Kade, she picks up and moves with her best friend into a new world. The work is intimidating, but she is up to the task, that is until she finds out who owns the buildings and her connection to Kade. She's under contract for a year, so running away from him is not an option. Nelena must face her fears and become the independent woman she knows she can be, despite Kade's insistence that they rebuild what they had.
I enjoyed the book for the most part. It was a little to easy. The story was cute, but not as dramatic as I thought it would be based on the first book. It reads quickly and everything is wrapped up nicely in the end. No cliffhanger to frustrate the reader. I still love Kali and Allie- I would have liked to see more of what was happening with them. They were a side light, but with their involvement in the plan to get the two back together, I expected to hear more from them. It was not clear how they worked with Kade's mom to put the plan into motion as it was only alluded to a few times. That would have been a great addition to the story, much as it was in the first book.
